Bangkok's Airport Rail Link provides a direct rail service to and from Suvarnabhumi Airport
The Suvarnabhumi Airport Link (SARL) is a 28-km airport rail link that connects Suvarnabhumi Airport in Samut Prakan province east of Bangkok and the City Air Terminal (CAT) in Bangkok's Makkasan area.

Full commercial services began today, August 23, 2010, with special discount fares being offered until the end of the year. The Airport Rail Link project is owned and will be operated by the State Railway of Thailand (SRT).

The Airport Link to Suvarnabhumi Airport provides two transit options — the Express Service and the City Line. Services on both the Express Service and the City Line will be operational on the same tracks at speeds of up to 160km per hour.

THE EXPRESS SERVICE: A 15-minute Non-Stop Journey The direct Express Service provides a 15-minute non-stop journey between the City Air Terminal (Makkasan) train station and Suvarnabhumi Airport with a fare at Bt150 per trip. During the opening period, the fare charged will be Bt100. The service will connect to the city’s mass transit subway system. Passengers will have the opportunity of checking in their luggage at the City Air Terminal, before boarding the express train to Suvarnabhumi Airport. The baggage check-in system developed by State Railway of Thailand (SRT) and Airports of Thailand (AoT) for Makkasan Station is expected to be ready for full operation by year-end.

CITY LINE COMMUTER TRIPS: A 30-minute journey with 8 stops The Commuter Train will make eight stops throughout the city, taking 30 minutes to travel the 28 kilometres (17 miles) to the airport. The City Line commuter service links with both the *Subway and **Skytrain systems in Bangkok. * Subway Link: Phetchaburi station for MRT (subway) Blue line ** Sky Train: Phayathai Station for BTS Sukhumvit line. City Line commuter trips, with set fares at Bt15-Bt45, take 30 minutes to reach the airport, departing from Phaya Thai, Ratchaprarop, Makkasan, Asoke, Ramkhamhaeng, Hua Mak, Ban Thap Chang, and Lat Krabang stations, and will end at the last stop of Suvarnabhumi. The promotional fare will be Bt15 for all journeys during this period.
